American owners group Phoenix Thoroughbred Ltd are aiming for their first big success on Irish soil this weekend when they bring the highly rated Advertise to the Curragh for the prestigious Keeneland Phoenix Stakes.

Trained in Britain by Martyn Meade, the son of Showcasing is one of fourteen horses remaining in the Group 1 contest following this morning’s entry stage.

The winner of the Group 2 July Stakes at Newmarket last month is likely to face a very strong challenge from Aidan O’Brien, who has won the race an unprecedented sixteen times. The champion trainer has left ten horses in the race including recent Goodwood winner Land Force, Sergei Prokofiev, Van Beethoven, So Perfect and Fairyland.

The Jessica Harrington trained pair of Klute and Indigo Balance, together with Mia Mento trained by Tom Mullins also feature amongst the entries.

St Patrick’s Day, Gordon Lord Byron, Urban Beat, Intelligence Cross and Ardhoomey are among the eighteen entries remaining in the Group 3 Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club Phoenix Sprint.

Racing on Sunday will get underway at 1.55pm with a seven race card.  Gates open at 12 noon

Final declared runners for all seven races will be published at 10am this Friday.

The Keeneland Phoenix Stakes Family Festival theme will ensure there is plenty of free entertainment and fun activities for younger racegoers throughout the afternoon, while admission for children under 18 is free.
