A driver was found to be more than three times over the legal limit for blood alcohol levels after Gardaí carried out a breath test on the motorist in Kildare yesterday.
The motorist was stopped by members of the Naas Roads Policing Unit at a Mandatory Intoxication Test checkpoint in the early hours of Wednesday morning, and Gardaí found that the person was more than three times over the legal limit for alcohol.
The driver was arrested and will face court proceedings.
Under the new drink driving laws passed through the Oireachtas last month, drivers who are detected with anything over the legal limit of alcohol in their blood can be automatically disqualified from driving.
