A Co Kildare teenager who threatened to kill or cause harm to a Garda’s grandmother has been convicted at Naas District Court.
The 18-year-old with an address in Newbridge, on on August 12, 2017, was charged with failing to produce insurance, threatening a Garda that he would kill her grandmother and assaulting a Garda, at Newbridge Garda Station, and being under the influence of an intoxicant, while driving on August 12, 2017, at Wellesley Manor, Newbridge.
he court heard how he spat in the eye of the same Garda.
Evidence was heard of how the Garda had to undergo tests and got the all-clear.
The court heard how the accused has no previous convictions.
Defence Solicitor, Timmy Kennelly, told the court how the apprentice roofer ‘dabbled in drugs’ and has ‘seen the dark side of what narcotics does.’
Judge Desmond Zaidan accepted that the accused pay €4,000 as a ‘gesture of remorse.’
He was convicted and fined €750 and given six months to pay, for the assault on a Garda.
Threatening to kill or cause harm to the Garda´s grandmother landed him with a €750 conviction and fine. For the drunken driving charge, he has been banned from driving for four years.
