Several roads and streets are closed today due to the RTÉ Reflecting the Rising - expected to be the largest artistic and cultural outdoors event ever staged in the city.

From 11am-6pm, in locations from Merrion Square on the southside, to Smithfield on the north side of the Liffey, the event will stage talks, debates, music, theatre, films and multimedia displays that explore events of Easter week and its aftermath.

All events are free but some are ticketed and sold out so its worth planning your day in advance here.

Later, attention will turn to the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre in Dublin where a cultural celebration, called Centenary will take place featruing some of Ireland's best-known performers.

Centenary is a special one-off cultural celebration and the culmination of Ireland 2016 and RTÉ's programme of events over the Easter weekend to mark the 100th anniversary of the 1916 Rising.

Artists confirmed for Centenary include Imelda May, Jack L, Gavin James, The High Kings, Colm Wilkinson, Danny O'Reilly, Iarla Ó Lionáird, Sharon Shannon, Dónal Lunny, John Sheahan, Celine Byrne, and Seo Linn.

Dance troupes from across the island of Ireland, including CoisCéim and aerialists Fidget Feet, will take centre stage on the night along with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra and choirs from around the country to perform songs that have become part of the Irish psyche.

There will also be musical performances from the historically significant locations of Kilmainham Gaol and The Garden of Remembrance.
