A young Newbridge woman sang her heart out on The Voice of Ireland at the weekend and coach Kian Egan picked her for the quarter-finals.

The 22-year-old Jasmine Higgins Kavanagh blew away the judges with her powerful version of Jess Glynne's hit Take Me Home.

Determined Jasmine has lost an incredible four-and-a-half stone since just before the show began.

She said she still can't believe her success on the RTE programme and she thanked all her fans from her hometown.

She explained: "I absolutely couldn't believe it when Kian called my name.

"I'm so blessed and I'm cherishing every second!

"I've thoroughly enjoyed every second of the competition and I've made friends for life.

"Thank you to everyone who came to see me perform. It meant so much to me to have people show how much they care, and the support is unbelievable.

"Every bit of support from you all is so so greatly appreciated in every way and I'll never forget how amazing you all have been to me."
