Hundreds of homes and businesses have been affected by a large fault in Co Kildare today with ESB Crews working to repair the fault.

According to ESB Networks, electricity supply to Kilcullen and Crookstown has been interrupted due to the fault. In a statement ESB Networks said: "We apologise for the loss of supply. We are currently working to repair a fault affecting your premises and will restore power as quickly as possible."

It is understood that 132 premises have been affected in Crookstown by an outahge north of the Church of St. Mary & Laurence with ESB Networks saying that they hope to restore the power by 3pm this afternoon, meanwhile a reported 1,428 customers are without power in Kilcullen since 12.45pm and it is hoped that power will be restored to the area by 4.30pm.

ESB Networks has said that a crew is currently at the scene to repair the fault and it has said that electricity supply in both locations should be restored later this evening.

The ESB advises that power cuts can be reported online by inputting  your MPRN and name of the registered customer
