More snowfalls could hit the country - after St Patrick's Day.

TV3 forecaster Deric O hArtagain claimed the so-called 'Beast from the East' may be getting ready to dump more snow over the country.

Kildare was one of the worst affected counties 10 days ago and advance warnings of the weather event sparked panic-buying of bread, biscuits and milk.

However, O hArtagain said today: "BeastFromTheEast is definitely building again and gearing up for a return.

"Not as severe as last time no Storm Emma to deal with; but we could we looking at a triple grand slam weekend."

Met Eireann said the weather for the weekend is still rather uncertain with low pressure remaining to the west of Ireland and a high pressure system building over Scandinavia, but current indications suggest that Saturday, St Patrick's Day will be a windy day with easterly winds increasing fresh or strong and turning colder with scattered showers.

Weather Warning

Meanwhile there is a STATUS YELLOW Weather Advisory for Leinster for Wednesday - for very wet and windy weather expected to affect mainly Munster and south Leinster during Wednesday.
