Kildare County Council have began discussions with the Transport Infrastructure Ireland group in relation to introduce noise reduction barriers on the M4 motorway in north Kildare.
The council were asked if they could begin installing the noise reduction barriers on the busy route that links the east of the country to the west, with Cllr John McGinley raising the issue at a meeting of the Maynooth Municipal District.
A Kildare County Council report said that they have already looked into the matter, and discussions are currently ongoing.
"Discussions are underway with Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) in relation to this issue with regard to design type, estimated costs etc," stated the report.
