A public meeting on road safety is taking place in Sallins tonight in the Community Centre with the aim of increasing awareness on road safety, and it comes just weeks after the start of  widening works on the M7 motorway.

The meeting is being organised by the area's community council and it is set to take place at 8pm tonight in the Sallins Community Centre and it is hoped that the meeting will help to raise awareness on road safety issues in Sallins, which includes pedestrian safety on the roads and residential areas. It also follows the imposition of 2 hour maximum parking in the village which only applies Monday-Friday and does not include Saturdays.

There have been a number of serious road accidents in Sallins in recent years, and earlier this year tragic Sallins teen Dane Loakman (16) lost his life following an early morning crash as he made his way to school while crossing the Clane Road in Sallins, Co Kildare, at around 7.45am on Monday 27 November 2017.

Residents are being welcomed to attend the Public Road Safety Meeting tonight to increase awareness and to discuss the current road safety issues in the area.
