More 'Poop Bins' needed in Kildare to stop dog fouling on our footpaths - Sinn Fein

Sinn Fein has called for a pilot project to put more bins into estates to stop dog fouling.

Under the Litter Pollution Act 1997, offenders who don't clean up after their pets can be fined up to €4,000.

But Cllr Íde Cussen said that dog fouling is 'ever present' on footpaths around residential areas in Co Kildare.

She called on Kildare County Council to contact residents' associations across Co Kildare to nominate two areas to run a pilot project to see if installing 'poop bins' can help solve the problem.

She said: "The Environment Department at Kildare County Council could fund this pilot trial at a relatively little cost from existing budget."
