Speaking to KildareNow, Ashling reveals how she was in 'denial' about her drink problem. In the show Dr Sinead Beirne says to Ashling, "Your liver scan showed signs of fatty infiltration of your liver. You have stage one of alcoholic fatty liver disease, so there is damage there”.

Ashling said that she was drinking approximately two bottles of wine a week and during the weekend she would have about five to six vodkas.

Since taking part in the show, she has cut out wine completely, now she will have a gin and tonic on Saturdays.

Ashling said that she did not want to appear in the show, but it has changed her life.

She said: "I said to Aileen, I will not make a laugh out of myself, I didn't talk to her for three days. I am a completely new woman since the show. It was more out of boredom that I was drinking."

Now Ashling exercises every evening.

In the show, it was revealed that Aileen's downfall was chocolate while Christine had type two diabetes but was refusing to control her levels.

Dr Beirne said to her: "I have to say Christine, I am really shocked with your attitude towards your type 2 diabetes”.
