A delay in documents being presented by the design team for a new national school in Clane has stunted the progression of the project, and one local politician says he will contact the Minister for Education, Richard Bruton, to intervene.
Kildare North Labour Representative Emmet Stagg has been in further contact with the Minister for Education in relation to progressing the New Scoil Phadraig National School in Clane, specifically the Tender Documents as part of Stage 2b of the project.
The Department contacted the design team directly in late June and were advised that the Quantity Surveyor was in the process of completing the Bill of Quantities and the Stage 2 (b) Cost Plan.
The Minister has now advised Mr. Stagg that the documents are still awaited from the design team. Upon receipt and review of the Stage 2(b) report the Department will revert to the school with regard to the further progression of the project at that time.
Commenting on the Minister's response Kildare North Labour Representative Emmet Stagg said; "The design team have had 6 months to submit the Stage 2b Report and Tender Documents and he was critical of the delay. The longer it takes to submit the information required, the more the project is pushed back. This project was previously delayed because a Costed Brief Change had to be submitted following the granting of planning permission on July 4th 2016.
"I would request the Minister to intervene with the design team again to complete their Tender Report so we can advance this project which will see a New 24 classroom school built for the pupils and staff of Scoil Phadraig BNS, Clane."
