The managing director at HP Ireland has stepped down after working with the company for more than 30 years.
Martin Murphy, who was with the company since the mid 1980s, announced that he will leave at the end of the first quarter of 2017, but he will step into the chairman's role at HP Enterprise in Ireland from November 1 to ensure a smooth enterprise and minimise the impact to the Irish business.
HP is undergoing a massive revamp worldwide after it was announced in the last fortnight that the company would be laying of between 3,000 and 4,000 staff all over the world.
There are currently 4,000 people employed at the HP plant in Leixlip, making it one of the county's biggest employers, but there is no indication as to how many jobs will be lost at its Kildare base.
Murphy has run HP's operations in Ireland for 16 years, and he is also a director of the National Treasury Management Agency and is joining the board of Ulster Bank.
