Two of Kildare's biggest stars from the 2016 All-Ireland Championship winning campaign are in line to be crowned TG4 Intermediate Footballer of the Year after they were nominated as part of a three-player shortlist for the award.

Captain Aisling Holton and goalkeeper Mary Hulgraine are in the running for the award alongside Clare's Niamh O'Dea.

It may be the perfect way for Holton to go out, as the Balyna club player suggested after the final last month that she would bring down the curtain on her intercounty career after 13 years as a Lilywhite.

Hulgraine was named Player of the Match in the final victory over Clare after she saved a penalty and made numerous brilliant interventions to keep the Banner ladies at bay. One of the players who was consistently frustrated by the Leixlip stopper on the day was Clare's Niamh O'Dea, who is also a nominee for the award.

The two Kildare ladies will find out who the winner is at the 2016 TG4 All Star Awards at the Citywest Hotel on November 12. The winners will be selected by their fellow players, and the awards for the Senior and Junior Player of the Year will also be given out on the night.
