Dublin Bus is back to running as normal today, and that is good news for Kildare GAA fans as they will be able to use the service to get to and from Croke Park for the Kildare ladies All-Ireland Intermediate Championship final clash with Clare.
The service had been stopped since Thursday night at 9pm to facilitate a 48-hour strike, which added massively to commuter traffic on Friday. The stoppages are part of an ongoing feud between Dublin Bus drivers and the bus operator's management company over a pay rise that was never implemented in 2008, and there are plans in place for a further 13 days of strike action in the coming weeks.
The availability of Dublin Bus services will come as a relief to plenty of fans heading towards Croke Park today, as no Luas service runs by the ground and the only other method of public transport to the venue is via the DART. Numerous Dublin Bus routes pass by the Drumcondra stadium, and fans should have no trouble getting there by 1.45pm to cheer on the Lilywhites.
