.After an absolute washout yesterday, things are set to be a bit more pleasant around Kildare today

There will be some bright or sunny spells to begin with today, especially in eastern and southern coastal areas. Scattered showers will also develop, mainly in the western half of the country at first, but becoming more widespread during the day. Many of the showers will be heavy, with a risk of thunder, especially in the west and north. Showers will become more isolated this evening. Cool and windy, with maximum temperatures of 13-15 degrees, in fresh to strong southwesterly winds, the winds easing later.

Tonight will be mainly dry at first, with clear spells, but scattered showers will continue along west and northwest coasts. Cloudy conditions, with rain and drizzle, in the southwest early on, will move up over Munster, south Leinster and possibly parts of south Connacht. Minimum temperatures 6-9 degrees, in light to moderate south to southwest winds, backing southerly.
