A man who was arrested in connection with a drug seizure in Westmeath earlier this week is due to appear in court this morning.
As part of an operation targeting the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Westmeath area Gardaí seized cannabis herb with an estimated value of €42,000. Gardaí also seized an amount of cash that was located in the car during the search.
Gardaí attached to the Divisional Drugs Unit in Mullingar seized the drugs following the search of a car that they had stopped on the N52 at Cloghan, County Westmeath on Tuesday evening at approximately 5pm.
The 20-year-old man and a female juvenile were arrested at the scene and were currently detained at Mullingar Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 as amended.
The female was released without charge.
