KBC Bank branches in Co Kildare are offering students the chance to receive €100 when they open a Student Current Account.

The offer works by giving student customers €40 on account opening and the remaining €60 when the student makes at least 10 debit card transactions and activates their online banking before the end of the year.

Announcing the offer, Michael Dixon, KBC Hub Manager in Maynooth, said: “This can be an expensive time of year for students and their families, between finding accommodation, and paying for course fees and materials.

"KBC’s Student Current Account offers Kildare students a cash boost of €100 to help out with the cost of college at the start of the new term, combined with free banking to give students better long-term value on banking throughout their studies.

“The KBC team will be on the road and around college campuses over the next few weeks. Look out for the KBC blue minis and mobile bank, and call by to apply for an account. In order to apply for your account there and then, we’d recommend that you bring along proof of address and proof of identification so to speed up the process,” added Mr Dixon.

The bank is also encouraging students to ask for advice on how best to manage their finances during the college term

“Learning a few simple budgeting techniques can really help to make the college year more manageable and stress free for students,” said Mr Dixon.

To qualify for KBC’s new offer, students simply need to apply for a new KBC Student Current Account online, by phone, at any of KBC’s 15 hubs in towns and cities around the country, including Kildare Hubs in Maynooth and Naas, or digitally through the KBC Student Mobile team.

The KBC offer applies to customers opening a student current account between August 15 and October 31.
