A man living in Johnstown is looking for ginger beer bottles from Co Kildare which are made of stone.

These are antique or vintage bottles and originated from the early 1900's.

They usually have a local surname and placename and typically contained ginger beer or stout.

The bottles could be lying in attics or sheds or buried in back gardens.

Collector Neil Reid said: "I'd be very interested in these bottles specifically from the county.

"I know bottles existed from Naas, Sallins, Newbridge and beyond.

"Typically a lot of the bottles were buried in private dumps so I would welcome the opportunity to dig if someone knew of such a dump."

Neil added: "I have bottles saved from various parts of Ireland and would welcome the opportunity to include a few more from all corners of the country.

"If anyone has any stoneware bottles or cream pots or pot lids with names or locations printed on, then please get in touch."
