Kildare Town is due for a Medieval make-over next weekend as the Normans come to town!
The second annual Kildare Town Medieval Festival begins on Sunday August 21 and will celebrate the historical links in the area. The event is free to the public and will begin at 12.30pm to 6pm in the town centre.
Local businesses like the bar and restaurant The Silken Thomas will also be getting in the mood for the upcoming festival and their varied menu will definitely keep Normans and other Medieval fans happy.
A number of fun activities will be set up for both young and old to enjoy, which includes fire jugglers, puppetry, archery, falconry, medieval games and craft activities for children, walking tours, street theatre, a traditional craft and food market, ancient Irish music and much more.
Festival goers will also have the chance try and attack the Normans at the archery display and hear all about their time in Kildare town during the street theatre show. Meanwhile, at 5pm music enthusiasts can enjoy a unique performance of Ancient Irish Music in St Brigid's Cathedral, Kildare Town.
The public is encouraged to dress up for the festival to bring a sense of spirit to the event which is sure to be a great day out for all the family.
