The entrance to the beautiful four-star Keadeen Hotel in Newbridge has just been awoken by a transformation of its avenue and main road frontage by Caragh Nurseries.
The planting has been inspired by some of the shapes and colours that are already in the existing garden, but have been done in a much more modern and contemporary fashion. The linear shape of the avenue paired with circular and conical shapes help draw the eye from the roadway to the elegant entrance of this unique hotel.
The new shrubbery at the front of the Keadeen Hotel.Already renowned for its eight acres of extensive and beautiful manicured gardens, the entrance to the Keadeen Hotel lay quietly understated, and the O’Loughlin dynasty, whom continuously invest in their family owned hotel, felt that the previous entrance didn’t reflect the grandeur of the property as it is now, and wanted to create a contemporary, verdant space that combined the old with the new. Indeed, the property as a whole is moving into the next generation. Established in 1970, the Keadeen is the oldest family-run hotel in County Kildare, originally managed by the late Joe O’Loughlin and his wife Rose, who continues to be at the fore-front of the business, and now their children Anna and Joseph have taken up key management roles in the running of this magnificent four-star hotel.
“The original brief for the Keadeen was very much about bringing the entrance to life again”, saidIan McGarry, co-owner of Caragh Nurseries. “The previous avenue was tree lined and although it created great privacy, it was somewhat dark and did not reflect what was beyond the gates. In rejuvenating the hotel entrance and giving it a more modern appearance, it has opened it out completely and made it much brighter and welcoming. Also by removing all the old conifers, it has allowed for additional car parking spaces, adding value to the property. The plants and trees weused in this project include Osmanthus, Box Balls, Hydrangea Annabelle Hedge, Portuguese Laurel, and classic Herbaceous borders in white and blue”.
