The Old Jameson Distillery in Dublin is due to get a major facelift inside the next seven months as the company plans to pump €11 million into an upgrade on the building.
The Irish Distillers announced the plans for the development yesterday, and revealed that the tourist attraction will be closed for at least six months as a result.
The Smithfield attraction sees almost 600,000 tourists pass through its doors each year and it is one of the most well known Irish tourist attractions. Construction is due to begin in December, with the premises closing on August 31, and it should be completed by March 2017.
Dublin-based firm TOTP Architects and Flynn Management & Contractors are involved in the development, and more than 100 people will be given work thanks to the development.
