The National Assets Management Agency are backing a new multi-million euro development by Kildare businessman Sean Mulryan that will see almost 300 new homes built in Naas.
Mulryan runs the Ballymore Developments group, an international property development company based out of Kildare, and Nama has taken over the land upon which the new homes will be built. The land is based in Craddockstown, and the Kildare County Council gave the green light for the development this February.
There were slight problems with the planning permission for the new project after members of the Craddockstown Golf Club, which is close to the development site, appealed the council's decision to An Bórd Pleanála, but that appeal was withdrawn last month. It is understood that the issues that the golf club members had with the development was the proximity of some of the houses to the golf club and the visual impact it would have on the course.
The homes will be built in two phases, with 124 being delivered in the first phase, while the rest of the homes will be built after the council signs a contract that will bring about the construction of a new distribution road in the area.
The development will consist of a mixture of three-bedroom and four-bedroom semi-detached and detached houses.
Nama are backing the project as part of their plan to deliver 20,000 residential units nationwide by 2020.
