Violence used against woman in Co Kildare hijacking spurs calls for witnesses

This morning Gardaí issued renewed appeals for witnesses to a violent incident yesterday where a woman in Co Kildare was forced from her car.

Outside the newly opened SuperValu in Kilcock, a woman was approached by two men yesterday morning.  They were driving a black BMW. The men forced her out of her red Volkswagen golf. She was assaulted and a man who attempted to help her was assaulted.

The two men then fled in the direction of Moyglare, Kilcock.

Shortly afterwards, the red Volkswagen was crashed at Meath Bridge on the Kilcock-Maynooth road and the BMW was crashed at Moyglare. The men escaped by foot.

One man is understood to have been wearing a dark blue jacket and had distinctive blonde hair.

The other was wearing a grey cap, an olive-coloured jacket and dark grey shorts. Both men are reported to have strong Dublin accents.

A registration for the red Volkswagen is 132 D 7840 while the BMW is registered 09 G 290.

Witnesses are being encouraged to contact Gardai in Kilcock on 01/ 6287202 and o1/ 6667800 for Gardai in Leixlip.
