Dig out your flat cap or 'caipín' on Sunday 21 August when the organisers of Hollywood Fair attempt to crack a Guinness Book of Records. This year, the committee have undertaken an ambitious plan to break a Guinness Book of Records and are calling on everyone who has a flat cap, to join them on Sunday, 21 August at 3pm when they will attempt to beat the record for the largest gathering of people wearing flat caps in any one location!
Hollywood Fair has firmly established itself as one of the best family events on Leinster's annual social calendar. Match makers, historic re-enactments, trad music, set dancing, slow bicycle race; craft demonstrations including butter making, basket weaving, knitting, bread making, horse-shoeing, steam threshing - you name it, they have it!
All pre 1950's fun with games for children and tonnes of entertainment at every corner. There's arts and crafts in abundance but best of all, good staple Irish food sold at various stands around the Fair, at reasonable prices.
See wwwthehollywoodfair.com on check out their page on Facebook. There's a jam packed programme of events from August 18-21 inclusive, with everything from dancing at the crossroads to traditional Latin mass and of course, a major feature of the Fair which entertains many visitors, farmers and non-farmers, the sheep shearing and sheep dog trials (sponsored by Patrick Lawler, Wool Merchant).
So ladies, dig out the pinnies and hair nets, and gentlemen, get out the flat caps and make a record at Hollywood Fair on Sunday, 21 August. 'If the cap fits'......
