Racehorse trainer Philip Dempsey in Kilkeaskin, Carbury will host an Open Morning on Saturday 18th May to provide racing fans and potential owners with a unique opportunity to get ‘behind the scenes’ of racing.

After the success of his last Open Morning in 2017, Philip and his family are looking forward to welcoming everyone back, along with plenty of new faces.

Those visiting the yard will have the chance to meet the team and see what is involved in getting a horse to the racetrack.

There will be plenty of tea, coffee and refreshments on the morning.

The morning will be run in aid of St. Bridget’s Hospice in The Curragh.

Admission is free but donations can be made on the morning, if so desired.

Philip said: “We wanted to support St. Bridget’s Hospice as they provided palliative care to my late father, Des.

"The care and support that the nurses provided was second to none and we would like to try to give back to them in some way.”

The Hospice itself was extended and refurbished in 2018, with the €6 million in costs all raised from various donations.

The Open Morning will run from 10am to 12am in Philip’s yard.

It is part of Horse Racing Ireland’s ‘National Racehorse Trainer Open Morning’ which involves 30 trainers from around the country opening their doors to the public on 18th May.
