Serious overcrowding at Naas Hospital with 35 patients on trolleys today

There are more patients on trolleys at Naas General Hospital today than at any other hospital in the Eastern Region, with 35 patients on trolleys.

According to figures released by the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) there are 35 patients without beds in the Kildare facility, 31 in the emergency department and 4 on wards elsewhere in the hospital.

Meanwhile, nationwide there are 548 admitted patients waiting for beds this morning, according to today’s INMO Trolley Watch. 384 are waiting in the emergency departments, while 164 are in wards elsewhere in hospitals across the country.

The worst-hit hospitals today are:

  • University Hospital Limerick – 61
  • Sligo University Hospital – 39
  • Letterkenny University Hospital -37
