Planners have applied for permission to build a new retail and residential development in Athy at the former Angler's Rest building in the town.
The building is currently in a derelict state, but William and Desmond Telford are seeking permission for the demolition of the building, which is classed as a protected structure.
The development would cost in the region of €1.9 million to construct.
The development will consist of the demolition of the remainder at the rear of facade Angler’s Rest building and the construction of a new shop unit, new shop front, alterations to front elevation and two one bedroom apartments at the complex.
The planners are also seeking to demolish the remainder of the building and sheds on site and construct eight duplex apartments over three floors and two 1-bedroom apartments building onto Mount Hawkins Street.
In addition, they hope to construct five two-storey 2-bedroom terrace of town houses.
