Councillor Naoise Ó’Cearúil has called on Kildare Co Council to take measures to stop illegal parking in housing estates in Maynooth.
The politician identified the Silken Vale area as a blackspot for illegal parking during 'match days'.
The problem is also common in satellite towns and villages on weekdays when commuters take the train or bus to work in Dublin in the morning and return in the evening.
Kildare Co Council said that within the bye law areas of Maynooth, pay parking is not regulated after
6.30pm on Saturdays.
In addition there is no regulation on Sundays.
A Council official said that outside of the bye law area, illegal parking is enforced by An Garda Síochána.
