Gardaí in Co Kildare arresting a man yesterday for drink driving while he was on duty as a lorry driver for work.
The checkpoint took place on the Southbound part of the M9.
On Tuesday, August 14, 561 drivers were breathalysed in Co Kildare, with two arrested for drink driving. One of the drivers arrested for drink driving was driving an articulated lorry with a trailer.
Eight cars were seized under Section 41 RTA (Tax / Insurance Offences), while one driver was driving while disqualified from driving.
One car was seized for being dangerous and defective, with tyres excessively worn.
38 Road Traffic Offences were detected with fixed charge penalty notices and penalty points to issue with summons and court proceedings in other cases.
Customs, Revenue and Dept. of Employment Affairs and Social Protection tested 102 vehicles for green diesel by customs officials with two Green Diesel offences detected
82 checks carried out by Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection resulting in investigations with two strike offs.
Also tickets have been issued to owners of 38 cars while one was arrested for having worn tyres that are dangerous and defective.
