It's set to be a rather wet week ahead for Co Kildare with national forecaster Met Eireann predicting 'heavy showers' of rain for much of the country, although today will start of with some hazy rain and will be a humid day with temperatures ranging from 19 to 22 degrees Celsius.

The beginning of the week will see some mild weather but it's set to rain heavily for much of the country from Wednesday.

Today, Monday,  will start out mostly dry but will become rather cloudy. It will brighten up again for a time in the evening. Highest temperatures will be 20 or 21 degrees, with light to moderate northwest winds.

Tonight will be mainly dry, lowest temperatures will be 13 or 14 degrees with light to moderate westerly winds becoming southwesterly by morning.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, there will be a good deal of dry weather with sunny spells. Highest temperatures are expected to reach between 20 and 23 degrees. Winds will be moderate to fresh southwesterly.

Tuesday night will see that same rain bearing front lingering along the west and northwest coast while the rest of the country remains largely dry. Lowest temperatures between 13 and 15 degrees with moderate southerly winds.

On Wednesday the rain in the western half of the country will turn heavy during the morning. The rain is then expected to extend eastwards through the day bringing a steady fall of rain across the country. The rain will clear to showers on Wednesday evening. Highest temperatures between 17 and 21 degrees early in the day, with moderate to fresh southerly winds veering southwesterly with the clearing rain and introducing cooler, fresher conditions.

Thursday looks to be a cooler day with temperatures down a degree or two in the east and south in particular. There'll be showers in the west from early on, becoming widespread during the afternoon. The best of the sunny spells will be in the southeast. Winds will be moderate westerly.
