Naas Court hears man is found with heroin in the toilets of store in Newbridge

A man who was found with heroin in the toilets of Dunnes Stores  has appeared before Naas District Court.

The 25-year-old homeless man appeared before the court facing charges in connection to possession of diarmorphine or heroin, at Dunnes Stores, Moorefield, Newbridge, on June 21, 2017.

He was also charged with possession of heroin for sale or supply on July 26, 2017.

Sgt Jim Kelly told the court how the accused was found with €75 worth of heroin in the toilet of Dunnes Stores, Moorefield.

The court heard how on July 26, 2017, he was found concealing bags of heroin worth €500.

Evidence was heard that he had three previous convictions including possession of articles and theft.

Defence Solicitor David Gibbons said that the accused is a 'good loving father' who is making a considerable effort to go off drugs.

Judge Miriam Walsh imposed a five months prison sentence.
