There were more disgraceful scenes of fly tipping on the Curragh earlier this week as one concerned local came across a huge mound of illegally dumped househould items.
The latest incident saw a large number of both large and small items tipped on what is supposed to be a State protected area, and it has sadly become a common occurrence on the Curragh in recent times.
Among some of the dumped goods was a large leather couch, a bicycle, old paint cans, tyres, a walking aid and a number of electrical items.
Fines of up to €3,000 can be handed out to those who are caught dumping illegally, but it is estimated that around 60 tonnes of waste is dumped in Ireland every day. According to an RTE report earlier this year, Kildare is the seventh best county in Ireland at clamping down on illegal dumping.
