Announcements for tender applications to upgrade Newbridge's sewerage are being welcomed by a local TD.
Fiona O’Loughlin, TD for South Kildare has welcomed the announcement from Irish Water and Kildare County Council that the tender process is underway and that tender applications are currently being assessed to upgrade the sewerage system in Newbridge.
The tender was issued to deliver the Upper Liffey Valley Regional Sewerage Scheme Contract No 2B. The Contract 2B has been designed to address the wastewater issues in the sewer network for the Newbridge area, including at Dara Park.
Deputy O'Loughlin said: “At a public meeting held in Dara Park last year, the main issues that were discussed were flooding and sewerage problems. Similarly I have met with residents from many estates in Newbridge that are experiencing sewerage backflows and are resorting to paying private contractors to clean out their sewers every couple of months”
She said: “Once the Contact 2B has been completed then Irish Water can progress with the Upper Liffey Valley Regional Sewerage Scheme Contract 2A which will connect Newbridge to the wastewater treatment plant at Osberstown and it is hoped that it will increase capacity and reduce current problems around the town."
