Kildare Fire Services requested the help from Laois Fire and Rescue to put out a fire at the Bord na Mona plant in Kilberry, Athy.
The fire broke out on Thursday morning around mounds of a peat by-product called coir.
Firefighters from Athy and Monasterevin initially responded but reinforcements were called in from Newbridge Fire Station.
Assistance was also needed from Durrow Fire Station.
