Gardaí investigating a fatal shooting at the Regency Hotel in Dublin in February Dublin 9 tonight arrested a man in his 20s.
In a major breakthrough for investigators, the man was arrested in the North Dublin area.
He is currently detained under the provisions of Section 50 – Criminal Justice Act 2007 at Ballymun Garda Station.
This anti-gang law gives powers to gardai to arrest a person who they suspect was involved in committing a murder using a firearm.
It is the first arrest in the investigation.
34-year-old David Byrne was gunned down at a boxing weigh-in at the Regency on February 5.
The military-style attack sparked a three-month feud between rival gangs that has resulted in several murders.
