The baby girl who was found at a recycling plant in Wicklow last Tuesday has been laid to rest this afternoon, despite Gardaí being unable to locate the tot's mother.
Close to 100 people gathered for the burial ceremony in Redford Cemetery, Co Wicklow, this afternoon, with around 30 staff members from the Greenstar Recycling plant present.
A white dove was released as the baby, who Gardaí have named Alannah, was laid to rest. Four members of staff from the recycling plant lowered the tiny white coffin into the ground at the end of a ceremony that was organised by Gardaí.
It is hoped that the grave will provide the deceased child's mother to have a place to mourn if she wishes to in the future. Gardaí are still trying to locate the woman, and they insist that she has nothing to fear if she comes forward, stating that they will deal with the case as compassionately as possible.
