A Kildare man is involved in one of today's Easter 1916 commemorations events in Dublin.
Sgt James Pearse from Mullacash is stationed at the Curragh and is the great grandson of James Connolly.
He read the proclamation at Liberty Hall to mark the contribution of the Irish Citizen Army and James Connolly in the events of 1916.
Sgt Pearse was also one of the five flag bearers who led Sunday's Easter parade through Dublin city centre.
Over 3,500 members of the Defence Forces, along with 78 vehicles, 17 aircraft and 5 equitation School horses took part in the ceremonial Easter parade, one of the biggest ceremonial events the Defence Forces were ever involved in.
The parade started on St Stephen's Green, passed by the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland, up Patrick’s Street, past Dublin Castle, across O’Connell Bridge and ended at Bolton Street.
