The Kildare Animal Foundation Wildlife Unit is appealing to members of the public to drop in their discarded and unwanted newspapers as they are in 'very short' supply of newspapers for wildlife patients as the newspapers are used for their bedding.

Taking to social media, Kildare Animal Foundation's Wildlife Unit said: "We're still very short of newspapers for our wildlife patients. They are essential for use as bedding and to line containers and carriers to help keep our patients as clean and comfortable as possible. We are looking for bundles of papers."

Kildare Animal Foundation's Wildlife Unit is asking for anyone with bundles of newspaper to call into them at the shelter between 10am-4pm any day.

The Kildare Animal Foundation Wildlife Unit cares and rescues many wildlife living in Kildare including mice, wild birds, squirrels, and more recently a pine marten, a swan and an orphaned cygnet.

Meanwhile, Kildare Animal Foundation Wildlife Unit is currently nursing a buzzard back to health after it was found on Sunday 'staggering along' by a Kildare family as they returned from their holidays, and the buzzard is being treated for suspected poisoning.
