A crimewave is being reported throughout Co Kildare in the midst of hot summer sun.
Throughout Co Kildare, within days, a significant level of break-ins to homes and businesses have taken place.
Over one day, on Monday, July 9, several homes were broken into around Newbridge and Naas.
At Moorefield Park, Newbridge, between 2pm and 3am, on July 9, entry was gained through a rear door, and a house was ransacked.
On the same day, the window of a Naas home was smashed to gain entry while cash has been reported stolen.
The home-owner left at about 2.30pm on the day. On returning at 5.30pm, to the house at Oakfield Heights, Naas, the back door window had been smashed and a small sum of cash was reported stolen.
Gardaí in Naas are appealing for assistance after a woman returned to her Sallins home only to discover that her engagement ring had been stolen.
Between 1.20pm and 2.10pm, on Saturday, July 7, the rear window of a house was forced open.
Two rings have been reported stolen, including an engagement ring with a gold band.
In Kilcock, on Saturday, July 7, at 4.40pm, an alarm was pulled off the wall and a large quantity of cash was stolen.
A house, located at RiverLawn, Kill, was broken into on Friday, July 6, between 8.30am and 7.30pm.
A number of items have been reported stolen from the house which was unoccupied at the time.
Athy based Garda Séan O’Mahony said: “There are widespread burglaries. With the warm weather people are leaving windows open. We are advising people to lock windows and doors, and not make it easy for people who want to break-in. Also we’re advising people to be aware of those offering services who could be scoping the property out. We are also asking people to lock their cars.”
On Wednesday, July 4, a man entered Lawlors Hotel, Naas, and removed a card and purse. At McAuley Place, Community Centre, Naas, on the same day, at about 5.30pm, two laptops were stolen.
