18 Army Reserve junior leaders hold Passing out Parade

A total of 18 newly qualified junior leaders in the Defence Forces Army Reserve held their Passing Out Parade in Cathal Brugha Barracks last week.

 

 

Students came from all over Ireland to participate in the course with representatives from Mayo, Galway, Louth, Dublin, Kerry, Meath, Offaly and Cork and commenced training in September 2017.

Students full-time civilian occupations include: validation engineer, assistant distiller, solicitor, retail, IT, purchase officer, electronics, aviation security, accounts assistant, landscaper, fisherman, undergraduate, medical engineer, retail manager, software developer, and firefighter.

 

 

The Course Commander was Lieutenant Fergal Fitzgerald, 27 Infantry Battalion along with Sergeant Brian O’Keeffe.

The CQMS Gerard P Doyle Memorial Trophy, a perpetual trophy awarded to Best Student on the Potential NCO Course, was presented by a member of the Doyle family to Pte Stephen Burke, 7 Infantry Battalion.

The platoon raised €3,800 for the Peter McVerry Trust, their chosen charity.
