It's set to be a warm day for Co Kildare but Met Eireann is forecasting that there will be a 'big drop' in temperatures and some outbreaks of rain, although the heatwave isn't over just yet with temperatures expected to rise heading into the weekend with temperatures forecasted to reach as high as 27C on Saturday.
Cloudier skies will bring outbreaks of rain/drizzle to more northern parts of the province through the day; the south of Leinster will tend to remain dry with occasional hazy sunshine. Highs of 19 or 20 in the north, 22 or 23 degrees further south. Light breezes.
Any rain or drizzle will die away overnight and the skies will clear. Lows of 11 or 12 degrees. Patches of fog will form around dawn.
Thursday will be another warm day with good sunshine but a few isolated showers will break out during the afternoon and evening. Highs of 21 to 26 degrees in light breezes.
Speaking about the weather forecast for today, Met Eireann said that "cloudier skies through today will bring scattered outbreaks of rain or drizzle to places, but amounts of rain will be small and it will still be dry most of the time", with Friday 20 July expected to be the best day for rain so far this month. Highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees in light northerly breezes.

According to Irish Weather Online, there will be a few light showers moving south from Ulster across Leinster, the Midlands and west Munster.
TODAY ... Partly to mostly cloudy, with a few light showers moving gradually south from Ulster, later on across parts of Leinster, midlands and west Munster. Amounts only 1-3 mm expected, some places remaining dry. Highs 18 to 23 C. Moderate northerly breezes will pick up in some coastal areas to 30-50 km/hr. ...
TONIGHT ... Showers ending, some clearing, lows 8 to 12 C.
THURSDAY ... Partly cloudy, warm, a few isolated showers mainly in east Munster and south Leinster, not much accumulation expected, highs generally 19 to 24 C.
FRIDAY and SATURDAY will be partly cloudy to sunny days, only a slight chance of isolated showers, although some rain could brush the northwest coastal areas late Saturday from a frontal system spawned by remnants of Hurricane Chris. Highs both days 22 to 26 C.
SUNDAY will see this front moving through with some western counties perhaps getting 5 to 10 mm of rain, unfortunately it appears that the front will lose what little energy it has during its trek across Ireland and smaller amounts will occur in Leinster. Some sunny breaks will occur before and again after this band of showers, and highs will reach 23 C.
Speaking about a possible respite from the unusally warm weather that the entire country has experience over the last three weeks, Professor Peter O'Donnell of Irish Weather Onlien said that next week things will somewhat cool with goof chances of significant rainfall. He said: "The days following the Sunday frontal passage may briefly turn settled and warm again as a new high forms, highs 22 to 27 C, but later in the week somewhat better chances for rain will develop with a cooler trend, highs only 17 to 21 C. The best bet for any significant rainfalls appears to be around Friday 20th."
