The North Kildare Club is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, and to mark the occasion the club is hosting a family fun open day at the club house, just outside Kilcock, May 19 from 2-6pm. Admission is free, and the club is eager to welcome down members and non-members alike.

The Open Day will feature a wide range of entertainments for all ages. Games, food and drinks, music, competitions, showcases, and much more for all members of the family, with bouncing castles, and a petting zoo for our youngest visitors. This will sit alongside a selection of games featuring several of North Kildare’s individual sports clubs; Bowls, Cricket, Hockey, Rugby and Tennis among others.

The day also marks the opening of some of the club’s new facilities. Over the past two years almost €2 million has been invested in upgrading facilities and new playing surfaces, and the event marks their official opening.

The club is also keen to use this as an opportunity to deepen its engagement with the wider community by giving potential new members an opportunity to come down and see what’s on offer. If you had been considering joining, or someone in the family has – this is a great chance to come down and see what’s going on.

The clubs individual sports sections are; Bowls, Cricket, Hockey, Rugby and Tennis, and they cater to all ages and levels. For anyone interested, full details about joining and about what’s involved will be available on the day. Details can also be found on the individual sections facebook pages.

So, whether you’ve been associated with the club for years, or this is your first exposure, you’re warmly invited to join in the fun and celebrate the history of one of North Kildare’s oldest sports clubs. Here’s to the next 90 years.
