Frustrated parents in a small Co Kildare village are pleading for a playground.
The residents of Ballyroe are outraged that they have been left without any facilities including no shop, pub and post box. There is a school in Ballyroe.
The parents are desperately appealing for a playground to give their children something to do. The campaign is being headed by local mother, Carrie Nolan, and already almost 200 signatures are on the petition for a playground.
Ms Nolan is a mother to a six - year-old daughter and 10 - year -old son. She is unable to drive and the nearest playground is in Athy, which is five miles away.
Speaking to Kildare Now, she said: "It is coming into the summer , I am sick of hearing I am bored. A lot of the parents in Ballyroe can't drive, getting their children to the playground is an ordeal."
Another concerned resident, Ger O'Neill said: "There is nothing at all there, no shop, pub, post box etc. The kids need something."
