It's set to be a mostly dry and bright day ahead for Co Kildare as the Spring weather starts to pick up, although it is understood that Leinster is due to experience heavy rain and gale force winds in the next 48 hours.

This morning will be dry and bright, with frost and any fog patches clearing. However, in the afternoon cloud will increase gradually during the day and a few spots of light rain or drizzle may develop during the late afternoon and evening, especialy in southern parts.  Winds will be light at first, mainly southerly in direction, gradually freshening as the day progresses. Maximum temperatures 8 to 10 Celsius.

Tonight will be breezy and wet, with occasional rain, persistent at times. Hill and coastal fog also. There will be some heavy falls, mainly in the southern half of the province, with a risk of localized flooding. Mild, however, in moderate to fresh south to southeast winds. Minimum temperatures 6 to 8 Celsius.

Tomorrow, Wednesday, will be very windy, with further outbreaks of rain, persistent at times, with some heavy bursts, especially in south Leinster. Hill and coastal fog will persist. Maximum temperatures 9 to 12 Celsius, in strong and gusty southeasterly winds.

Meanwhile there is a STATUS YELLOW Weather Advisory for Leinster for Wednesday - for very wet and windy weather expected to affect mainly Munster and south Leinster during Wednesday
