Naas Fire Service yesterday met a baby they helped deliver during Storm Emma.
Expectant mum Deborah Roche (36) faced a big battle to get from Naas to the Coombe Hospital in Dublin last week with roads impassible everywhere.
Naas Fire Service said: "The crew of Naas were delighted to meet little Wyatt after the ordeal but were glad they could be of help to the Roche family in the tough conditions."
According to the Fire Service, Deborah went into labour in Naas at around 4am on Friday last as Storm Emma was battering the county with a snow blizzard.
The roads were impassable and their car was snowed-in so her husband Jason had to call 999 for help.
A Naas fire engine was stuck in the centre of Naas at the time but it summoned a tractor to pull them out to the house.
Then Deborah sat in the fire engine and was towed by the tractor up to Naas General Hospital.
A plan was hastily formulated to get Deborah and Jason to the Coombe Hospital.
An Army truck which was supporting Temple Street Hospital offered to help and a Naas nurse travelled with the couple to the hospital.
The couple arrived at the Coombe hospital at 10am on Friday and the new arrival was born 50 minutes later.
Well done to everybody who helped out and congrats to the Roche family!
