A man who was running late for coaching a young Newbridge sports club was disqualified from driving for a year at Naas District Court today.
Evidence was given today how the accused was stopped for speeding on the R445 Naas Road, at Newbridge, on February 7, 2015.
The 40-year-old man was found to be driving at a speed of 134 km/hr in a 80km/hr zone.
Evidence was given that he had two previous convictions for speeding.
Defence Solicitor, Sarah Connolly, said that on the day, he was running late and it is 'not habitual.'
Defence said that his livelihood is reliant on a driving licence.
Ms Connolly said that he did try to pay the fixed penalty notice, but because he had been away, the time had lapsed.
Judge Desmond Zaidan said: "There is a very fair system in Ireland, people are forewarned. It is not as if the state is hiding in the bushes, there are warning signs to slow down, I don't understand it. This is not a case of third time lucky."
The accused was disqualified for a year from driving and was ordered to pay €600.
