An Garda Siochana have issued a warning to Kildare motorists to avoid leaving their car unattended with the engine running while they de-ice their cars on chilly mornings.
The warning follows a number of cars having been stolen in Kildare while car owners were defrosting their vehicles as well as a number of thefts reported in some areas of Dublin and Meath over the past couple of weeks particularly during the Cold-Snap earlier in the month.
On their official Twitter account An Garda Siochana confirmed the most recent thefts in the Midlands, saying: "Insurance cover could be affected."

To help reduce the risk of their cars from being stolen motorists can invest in de-icer fluid or to make sure that they are sitting in the car as it defrosts to prevent anyone attempting to steal the car.
