Plans have been granted for a major redevelopment of St Evin's School and St Peter's National School in Monasterevin.

Planners lodged an application last May requesting permission for the demolition of a single-storey building before they construct a new part two-storey, part single-storey building that will consist of 24 classrooms, a GP room, library, resource rooms, staff room and ancillary accommodation all measuring approximately 4,300sq metres.

The associated site works include ball courts, yard area, grass playing areas, car parking, bicycle parking, boundary walls, vehicular entry/exit points, pedestrian access points and traffic calming measures to the front of the site and all other ancillary site works.

The application was lodged on May 11 and the project is expected to cost in the region of €4.24 million to complete.

The council accepted the plans last month but no start date has been given for the project as of yet.
