A mother of a child with Down Syndrome is organising a major charity book sale this Saturday at The Westgrove Hotel in Clane.
Organiser of the event, Maura D'arcy, is mother to 12 -year-old Kate, who has been attending Temple St Hospital from a young age. She has nystagumus, an involuntary eye- movement.
Maura said: "Her eyes tick over and back, in order to bring them into focus, they move a lot. She has got great assistance from Temple St Hospital."
Also an agent for UK company, Usborne Books, Maura is holding the book sale this Saturday, with 60 % of the sale of new books going to Temple St. She has offered assurances that books on the day will be cheaper than in the shops and there will be special offers. There is a school and a library in the hospital which will benefit from books funded by proceeds from this event. The event will kick off at 10am until 4.30pm this Saturday at The Westgrove.
